RYAN HELM NAMED TO ELITE DAKINE SURF TEAM

July 8th 2005... Jupiter Beach, FL / Honolulu, HI - Pro Surfer Ryan Helm has been named to the DAKINE SURF TEAM; joining an elite cast of surfers that includes current and Three Time World Champion Andy Irons, Andy's younger brother Bruce and fellow Florida ripper, (WCT Surfer) Shea Lopez, among others. "We are stoked to welcome Ryan to our family of top surfers and extreme athletes and wish him much success"; said Micah Nickens, DaKine Team Manager.

Ryan announced his return to professional competition earlier this year after a brief hiatus living and surfing in mainland Mexico for a few years.

 Helm blew-up at the inaugural WQS 3 Star Globe Sebastian Inlet Pro with a solid 5th place, semi-final finish in January, whilst announcing his intentions to qualify for the 2006 WCT Tour. His top finish at the ASP's first event of the 2005 season after being absent from recent U.S. tournaments, turned quite a few heads and prompted former World Champion Peter (PT) Townend to comment "Who is this Darkhorse?".
 
Ryan is presently in South Africa for the 6 Star Mr. Price Pro, after which he will head to California to compete in the Honda US Open, Presented by O'Neill, also a 6 Star World Qualifying event and the largest professional surfing event in the world.
 
Ryan is also in good company as one of only a handful of top surfers featured on former Rusty Shaper, Bill Johnson's 'A List' Surf Team that includes 2001 World Champion CJ Hobgood, and top WQS Contender Gabe Kling.
